PostSubject: The Art Of War   The Art Of War Icon_minitimeThu Oct 17, 2013 6:36 pm

SECTION 1: CLOSE COMBAT

(Dealing heavy damage, taking out dangerous Pokémon first)

SECTION 2: IRON DEFENSE
(Being able to take hits, last for long periods of time, in order to set up.)

SECTION 3: AGILITY
(Taking initiative, manipulating turn order to your advantage)

SECTION 4: LAYING SIEGE
(Setting up, creating favorable situations, and overall harrying your foe)

Subtopic A: Status Changes
I know, I know, 'Status Changes are shit.' Well, this is really not true. Let's take a look at a rather infamous example, Belly Drum. In exchange for half of your health, it boosts your Attack to ridiculous heights. Now, not all of them have this dramatic of an impact, but they shouldn't be overlooked. If one can stack enough of these on top of eachother, you can seriously affect an opponent's potential.
Priority: Low
Effectiveness: Low-Medium

SECTION 0: CREATING A PERFECT TEAM
(Assembling and raising a team to make your foes tremble in fear)

APPENDIXES: SPECIFICS AND THEIR USAGES

  'Low Tier' Pokémon

  Themed Teams

  Gimmicks

I haven't read The Art Of War. Is there a reason you have it set up the way you do?

Art of War is split by certain topics, but I felt this was the best way to organize it, by substrategies. Putting all of it together is part of Section 4.

It'll cover basics too. Feel free to throw things at me, I won't judge you by your suggestions.

alright well I think persona;;y that pokemon like Metagross (however it's spelt) and Hitmonchan are really good since they can learn a variety of different move types (like the elemental punches for Hitmonchan and just the varried attacks Metagross has)...

basically I think that individual attack versitility and team type versitility is key... but that is pretty much common sense

Versatility is indeed useful in a team, but Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch/Fang users suffer in that they can't bring the almighty STAB to the table.
They are still pretty damn useful, they just can't do STAB.

More, more, I need more input! :V

Basically, using moves of the same type as the user boosts their power, Jeremy.

Those don't have the same all-round properties of Fire/Ice/Lightning.

It's hard to explain, but long story short, most of the ICE/FIRE/LIGHTNING Pokes are able to do SO much more...
