First topic message reminder :

Uh

Not really sure what to write here :0

Discuss any ideas or thoughts you have concerning the technology level of Adonia, things to be done for entertainment, any cultural stuff, etc.

Just for some worldbuilding, mostly. :0

I dunno why we should bother with that. It would either be too complicated or oversimplified if we did I think. I don't think we'd gain much from it either. Not worth it I say. I think we should just use the trains as needed and not worry about scheduling. Well, as long as we don't contradict each other and have multiple trains pull into the same spot at the same time.

Honestly though, having a situation where a character can't get somewhere because of a schedule makes for a more realistic world. Not to mention the possible contradictions if multiple characters use the same railroad in the same vague time period.

Let's just say the trains can only be used on Mondays at all times, and at 11:59 PM on Fridays.

Realistic, sure, but wouldn't most of us just completley bypass that by saying our characters are on time anyway? To be honest, I probably would. Again, doesn't seem worth the hassle for something most of us will probably just bypass in practice anyway. I doubt many contradictions will arise either.

Besides, if our goal is to write a situation in which our characters aren't on time (for drama or something) we can just say they aren't on time without writing a schedule.

At the absolute least though, we should watch out for conflicting train routes at similar times to prevent confusion :v

I was thinking that the trains would be frequently attacked by monsters as it travels (not necessarily all the time or anything, but often enough that measures would be taken), and there would sorta be hired warriors on the routes that can take out anything that could damage the train/hurt the civilians. Thoughts on this?

Sure. Though that makes me think of the game mechanic in Spirit Tracks where there's a cannon on the train. Maybe there could be another character that operates that cannon?

Ok, I missed a bunch of things and am just now catching up so I am going to touch down on a couple of things. In regards to magic...
Spoiler:

What I mean, of course, is that...the world should have a natural ambient energy...however different magic stems from different sources. I imagine mages would learn to draw upon the ambient magic, but there is also blood mages who use the magic in their own blood, which is powerful. Then you have magical catalysts, like from dragon age... Lyrium, which can cause magical affects in people who don't have magic. If the planet itself gives off a sort of ambient magical energy..there is no reason there could not be some form of solidified magic..or magical catalyst buried in the earth, that helps powering magitek. I think there are too many magical types for there to only be one magic source. I think it would be cool to have that magical catalyst for powering everyday life, and like Lyrium from Dragon Age, it would have to be mined and processed to power magitek.

Also as for conflicting train routes...
I actually laughed when I thought about there being like...single seat trains. Trains are long, and have multiple cars, as well as train stations have multiple tracks. I say if we are going to have trains..we just have train/trains topic. Just go there, and interact. Seeing as there are multiple trains, multiple cars...you may have to have the trains have sub topics that can be posted in. Something to think about, so more than one group who are RPing can use the trains at one time. Other than that, scheduling won't really matter a whole lot. Instead of scheduling times, maybe do several topics that list what major cities they go between. That way, Chris and Rawk can be having their RP on the train from A to B, while Rid, Ali, and Smash have their RP on the train from B to C and etc.

Is that a bad thing? Mostly I just wanted the train schedule to not be complicated or contradictory. Your idea helps that.

Other than me being blonde, offering money, and apparently having no grasp on the English language, that's kind of accurate. I just go with whatever works. It's not like I blindly follow any idea. I flat out rejected the idea of making a train schedule >_>

Honestly a bit rude, there, Aeo. We ARE allowed to agree, right? That said, I don't like the idea of 'magic coal'.
I'd much rather have magitech that's powered by ambient magic and constructed magical 'fuel cells'. Granted, if the ore is being forged into cells, that's different, but I honestly prefer the idea of I guess 'solar' or 'wind' whatever magical energy. Literally mining for magic just seems silly to me, especially with stuff like regular coal as almost definitely a thing.

I dunno, it's a bit hard to articulate WHY, but I don't think magic coal should be a thing. Not for realism purposes, since magic's basically energy, but more for taste, I guess.
I'm fine with drawing magic from blood and stuff though, since again, energy and all that. You're basically drawing on life force and etc.

Well wasn't the forging into cells thing kind of implied through the processing of the magic ore? I was thinking perhaps scientists could always be trying to find new ways to process it into more efficient cells and stuff.
