PostSubject: Gregoria's Bookshop   Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:47 am

First topic message reminder :

The bookshop that January Gregoria grew up in and inherited. It sat empty for a while, but it was kept up by family friends and now is running again. A few of those friends run the storefront alongside a few people who are hoping to learn under January, with her checking in from time to time from her workshop.

An oddly designed store, though those are in no short supply in Crystalpine. The front is one of two doors in an out of the building, the other being into the enclosed yard in the back, which also holds January's workshop, set into a wall of the city. The store is the majority of the first floor, with a staircase in the back-right corner leading up to a locked section of rarer books in a smaller square room.

The living quarters are entered right by these stairs, going from under that room to the front, then up to a second floor over the entire store, and another first floor behind it.

He sighs. "You can tell me anything, you know. It's the least I could do after what you've done for us..." He says, lying back down on the bed.

July practically bursts out his bedroom door, and in a few minutes, has his siblings in tow. He clearly seems enthusiastic about something.

"I... Remember our parents, and where we used to live, and... And the girl I kept dreaming of... My girlfriend... Susie..." He seems a bit depressed as he says this, knowing she must have been so hurt by his long absence...

January frowns. "Poor girl must be worried sick, I would have sent her a message if I knew..."

"We're going home." July states bluntly, looking at his grandmother directly. His siblings remain silent, as he's apparently already talked to them about this.

"Thanks for letting us stay here, gramma." The three all hug her at once.

"Of course. Now, don't be strangers ok? You've got a lot of lost time to make up for with other people but you know... I'm still here."

"Here's hoping." With one more hug, the trio begin to head out the door. As he shoves June and Auggie out in a brotherly fashion, July turns to his grandmother one more time. "And grandma? We'll find Mom and Dad, no matter what. Don't worry."

"I promise. ... Thanks again, grandma." July replies calmly, somewhat unusual for him, as he turns to leave as well.

The elven woman, formerly found in Monteport, has made her way here.

She sits at a table in the book store, watching January examining the tome she had with her.  She was hoping that it might contain some clues, somehow. Maybe her name was even written on a margin somewhere, that she hadn't noticed.  The two fairies are flitting around the room, looking at all of the books on the shelves.  Selene with interest, and Eos with trying to look for a comfortable place to nap.

January scans through the pages carefully, having already gone over the binding and the covers silently.  "I don't suppose you'd be willing to sell this to me?"

The woman shakes her head. "It's the only hint I might have to where I came from."

January gives a small chuckling sigh. "It was worth a shot."

"So....?"

"I'm familiar with the author, though I've never heard of this particular tome before.  It seems like sort of a compendium of the rest of their work.  Probably one of a kind, made for a personal friend who didn't have much shelf space maybe, for the rest of their works?  It's all very neatly written, concise without skipping over any important details.  There's even a few parallels between different subjects that they hadn't written in the other tomes.  It's quite a marvel for a tome as far as condition goes, too.  You may be the first one to take it into the sunlight in years, it's got that wonderful library smell to it, but not dusty.  Well taken care of, certainly.  Almost certainly a family heirloom."

Her face lights up. "Really? Is there anything written in there about who it was for then? A family name?"

January frowns. "Nope, I'm afraid not.  But, if your family is out looking for you, and knows you have this, maybe you should borrow its name to catch their attention?"

"Tetrabiblos is kind of a mouthful..."

"Hmm.... Shorten it? Nah... Tetra sounds like a pirate's name.  Let me see. I think the forward had some things..."  She thumbs through it a bit.  "How about Hydaelyn?  That word doesn't come up much.  You could call yourself... Heidi Daelyn. Yeah, how's that sound?"

"A lot better than Tetrabiblos."

Jan cracks a smile.  "Glad to help, then.  Hey, really though... If you ever want to sell that, I promise I'll keep it safe."

"Nooooooope." Heidi Daelyn. That'll be her name from here on out.  A lot better than not having one, that's for sure.
