PostSubject: Berkshire-Friezant Railway   Sat Nov 07, 2015 10:34 pm

This road connects Berkshire to Friezant. It's actually composed of two parts. One is gated and kept far secure of any influences of poverty. Of course, the ticket price for the train helps too.

The cars are very fancy, so this train is definitely not the standard class vehicle. It's known for its speed and comfort both, which are quite astounding. Rich people have been known to take entire vacations on the train alone, staying on the train back and forth for several days.

---------------------

Tod and Yoren can each easily afford the train instead of the dirt path. Which is good, because haste is their mission here.

Yoren sits down on the train and removes the gloves he'd worn until that point. His fingers are long(ish) and pale, and he flexes his hands stiffly. He seems quite impatient, but is keeping any emotion he may feel under the cool gaze of his dark eyes.

Tod stares out the window, clenching his fists every few seconds and muttering to himself.

Finally he speaks to Yoren. "Politics are dangerous. Swear a favor owed to too noble a man, and you may find yourself facing something worse than death. Money was not the issue, oh no, it was my curiosity. I knew what I was getting into, but I thought myself above it all. It was about time that I learned. You can't always avoid paying some price."

"There's always a price. A price for everything, whether in tears, suffering, gold, or one's own soul. Oftentimes we think we avoid paying, but most of the time we just don't see that others pay for us. Not until it's too late..."

Yoren's right hand seems to drift unconsciously towards his left arm.

"Well. I've no regrets. I can't regret it. What is pleasure, what is pain? What is the value of a single life? So small a price to pay, all things considered..."

Yoren laughs. "Lives hold no value. Except perhaps your own. Ah yes, the everpresent search for the elusive something. Everyone does it. Everyone seeks meaning. And like so many candles, are snuffed out. Ground beneath the heel of a passing boot."

"Everyone has to walk. We're all just obstacles in each others' ways. Whether the obstacles are underfoot, already fallen, makes no difference."

Tod glances at him, slightly askance. "You seem to me a dangerous man. Just a few weeks ago, that would have mattered to me."

"And we wouldn't want to leave a mess over this beautiful car, would we? Oh no, absolutely not. And certainly not outside. We don't want anybody oozing all over that nice ground."

"Actually, once the residue sinks in, it's quite indistinguishable from regular ground. It'd be a shame for the upholstery in here though."

"It's so lovely in here... Imagine the kind of person I could be if I would stop having moral quandaries."

Tod gasps suddenly, and says in a voice that sounds very wistful, very hopeful, very small: "I could... I could have the curtains with my design... to match the wallpaper..."

"I... Can sympathise."

Yoren doesn't say more than that, not sure how much to tell.
