A Carriage Trip Down Memory Lane

Tod and Yoren, on their way to Kevranstown, begin the journey with silence. It was not precisely a silence of discomfort, and it was not precisely discomforting; yet the silence was evocative of suppressed words, and this lent the journey some awkwardness of its own. Neither of the pair exactly wanted to speak -- nor did they need to speak, having nothing to say and not much in the way of companionship at all. Or, at least, that's what the silence between them would suggest. Each occupied himself for a while with some other manner of activity, until the thoughts borne of the silence grew too heavy upon the minds of one of them...

He turns away from the woman and disappears back into the crowd, looking for Pia.

She seems to have vanished.

He continues looking. After all, he's got nothing but time.

Still can't be found.

He gets a glass of the wine, and heads for the stairs to watch the party in a little more privacy.

On one of the second floor balconies, he leans against the wall and stares down at the people. He doesn't drink from his glass yet.

"Don't you just love evening parties?"

"Not particularly. The wine here is tripe."

Yoren drains a quarter of the small wineglass.

"When did you get here?"

Elene chuckles, but does not answer.

Yoren raises an eyebrow. "Thought I'd botch it, didn't you?"

"Give it..." He checks an ornate silver watch that he pulls out of his coat pocket "an hour and forty-six minutes."

"Indeed." His left hand twitches and a little spark dances along his fingers.

"Not really, if I enjoyed attention I would've been more overt. Such as... Jumping out of the balcony to do it with a knife, or something." He turns to go back down to the main floor.

"Of course."

"This is going to be droll." runs through his head, as he offers his arm.

The speech and dinner lasted a good long while.

It was all going smoothly, until....



The target choked on her food and fell to the floor.

Yoren has no reaction to the event.

Pia, like many of the other guests, stands up with some degree of shock.

Yoren has an appropriately shocked expression on his face.

There is a slight degree of chaos caused as she is pronounced dead.

Yoren considers disappearing, but decides to stick around and watch for a while. His leaving now would be suspicious.
