First topic message reminder :

The exterior of this place is unimpressive. It appears as a simple cave with two entrances closed off by stone doors, though they lead to the same place. There's a plaque in between, but the ancient text is too faded to read. The interior however remains a mystery as it's ever changing.

"It's a placeholder title subject to change. Forgive me, but I'm a bit more concerned with getting you out of here and the actual content of my broken story rather than the title at the moment."

"Right, sorry, I should have thought of that." She continues to toe the line, both literally and figuratively.

"All is forgiven, now let's just continue following the line. Though I can't help but wonder...is this really a story? Simply following a line mindlessly through narrow corridors with no character? That's not what stories are about at all. A good story should be a fun ride, not a mindless tour of some bland hallways. There's no soul in this...well this is depressing. I think what we need right now is a bit of music to lighten the mood!" Music beings playing.

"Well something should be enjoyable in this situation. If nothing else, we can at least say we had a pleasant romp through the halls rather than an awkward silent dragging of the feet." The line twists and turns through the halls, leading them down unfamiliar territory. At the very least, it's new. "Let's just hope this ends soon..."

"Well at least the stone walls are of a lighter color this time. That's new. Progress is being made." Eventually, they find themselves right back where they started through a door right next to the one they entered. "Wait, cut the music! We're back in the starting chamber? No! No...Line, you do know we're looking for The Freya Parable, right? The story? Is any of this ringing a bell?" The line moves forward through an entirely different door. It seems to be the only way forward.

As she follows, the line ends on the same cliff Freya found herself on overlooking the treasure chamber earlier. "Oh no no no no, not this again! Line! How could you have done this to us? And after we trusted you! After everything we've been through, you--oh I can't take this anymore. To hell with it. Restart." Story reset.

"...Huh?" A heretofore unknown, light female voice calls out from behind Freya.  This voice is accompanied by what sounds like the gentle jingling of a hundred small bells as a shorter Burmecian steps into view, dressed in a lavishly festooned dancer's outfit and a pair of thin daggers at her hips.  Her movements almost seem to sway as she walks up to Freya, a rather shocked look on her face.  Her look quickly turns to one of happiness as she looks Freya up and down.  "Another Burmecian?  In this land of all places!  I never thought I'd see the day!  Even having arrived not long ago, it's still really nice to see a face from home.  I'm Shannon, dancer and explorer extraordinaire!  I'd heard there were Shades around the area and I found this dungeon.  Did you just arrive too?"

"Wait...what? Did I just load up another map? I could have sworn I restarted the other...you know what, I'm not even going to question it. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. From now on this is "The Shannon Parable". We'll complete this new story, get you both out of here, and we can all move on with our lives. Now let's suppose we don't break anything this time around, hm?"

Freya looks up at the ceiling with a frown for a moment before looking back at her countrywoman. "Yes, I just recently..." She starts, then recognition shines in her eyes. "Shannon? Shannon Rosewind?"

"Aha, and a kinswoman who's familiar with me! Yes, that's right. Shannon Rosewind, the Rose of Burmecia, at your service." A slight curtsy, with ample but not unpleasant jingling, accompanies Shannon's words. "I came to Drachurst both on a performance tour and an adventuring quest to help stamp out this Shade menace. But... where are we now? And who is this strange voice that keeps resonating from nowhere? I'm afraid I don't have the lay of the land here very well yet, I was just going off rumors at the inn in a nearby town."

"Well the illusion of good storytelling and mystery has already been ruined, so I see little point in withholding information anymore. My main goal right now is to get you both out of here so I can resume normal business, so let's just get introductions out of the way. I am known as 'The Narrator'. For thousands of years, I have existed here with the sole purpose of guiding mortals out. To...varying degrees of success I'll admit. It's rather difficult to do my job when people are so insistent on not listening to a word I say. How am I expected to craft a good story and convey a meaningful moral at the end when people actively go against me at every turn? Then we have today where the whole thing breaks, and now two stories have merged together!" He sighs. "I need a coffee break..."

"You have fair taste in music, at least." Freya points out in an attempt to be complimentary. "But..."
She then grasps Shannon's hands in hers, holding them up between them with a soft, almost childlike smile. "I've been wanting to meet you since I heard of your arrival, Lady Rosewind. My name is Freya Crescent, one of the Dragon Knights sent out ten years ago in search of Gungnir."

"The quest for Gungnir... I was just a kid when you were all sent out. I remember all the pomp and pageantry of the whole affair. You're doing us all a great service by keeping up the quest like this! Even now, Burmecia's still high in spirits waiting for the spear to be found! Who'd have guessed that one of the first people I meet in a strange new land would be someone carrying that brave burden? I'm not complaining!" With a big smile, Shannon gives Freya a quick hug before turning her head upwards. "And as for you, Mr. Narrator, nice to meet you! You sound you've been having a rough time of it recently. And you said this was a... story? Like a performance? Well lucky for you, that's my forte! So shall the three of us get this tale on the road?"

"Right, we just need to complete the story, and you can both go home! The previous one is broken, but if we complete yours, both you and Freya can leave. Now to set the tone for the story, we start with the opening narration! Now, from the top...ahem...

This is the story of a woman named Shannon...and her travel companion, Freya. Shannon was a performer from overseas, eager to bring her performances to a foreign country. But her motivations weren't strictly for entertainment. She was here on a noble quest to rid the world of its latest menace, the Shades. Drawn to this place on the assumption that Shades would be found here, she must now find her way out in order to continue her quest. With renewed vigor, Shannon took a step forward through the corridor. Perhaps in the next room, she would get a better idea of where exactly she is."

"Perhaps indeed! Let's get our bearings, Freya." And off Shannon trots, hips gently swaying from side to side as she heads for the next room.

"Perhaps it won't lead back to this room this time. Narrator, are you sure everything is fixed?"
Now that someone else was here to endure through this with her, not to mention the Rose of Burmecia herself, Freya was definitely in higher spirits. She follows closely behind, her own gait much more square and methodical... Though it doesn't stop her from experimentally attempting to mimic Shannon's sway for a step or ten.

"In the next room, Shannon and company find themselves on a stage. The stage isn't the odd part, but rather how empty it is. Stunned at the lack of any indication of organic life, Shannon wanted to look around. Surely there was someone here. Shannon decided to exit stage left and head for what should be the staff area."

"But it's a stage! Forgive me Mr. Narrator, but I can't simply exit off a stage without a small routine." A brief moment of calm to center herself and off she goes, spinning and twirling across the stage as her outfit and its countless adornments chime together in a harmony of pleasing sounds. To her credit, though, she does do it across the stage in the direction of stage left. But still, ever a performer.

Freya watches closely from the entrance to the stage, taking full advantage of the opportunity. When Shannon makes her way off the stage, she follows after her, imagining what the full performance was like in comparison to that sample.

"Making a show out of her exit, Shannon eventually found her way to the staff area. Empty as the rest of the building. Was this place abandoned? Or was there something more sinister lurking nearby? It was then that our small party's attention was diverted to a hole in the wall. They pondered it for a moment, then ventured forward through the large opening in the wall."

"A hole, huh... It seems we've run out of doors. Oh well, onward!" Rather than sounding apprehensive or nervous, Shannon seems to almost exude confidence as she saunters through the sizable hole, easily large enough to accommodate her.
