Ciel walks past the ruins three times before she sees a piece of a stone pillar sticking up from the dirt at an odd angle. She originally thinks nothing of it aside from a peculiarity. Upon further examination, and cross-reference with the only other landmark in the area, she returns to the site of the ruins. There is nothing left but a portion of a wall, and a staircase, and some pillars.
There is nothing left. How long ago... How long ago was this? Certainly not three years. Maybe three thousand, or... or...
If only she could cry out. Instead her tears fall silently, and she feels nothing but pain at the silence she cannot escape. What does she do now? Where does she go from here? Why did she only spend three years in that horrible "testing facility" while the world aged around her?
She sits, and stares at time passing by far too slowly. It feels like it takes years for the sun to start its descent from the top of the sky.
Much later, after the sun sets, she continues walking onward, hoping to find a city that has a map, so she can see what the world looks like these days.
